NOTES: This painting was sanded out 4 times over its 1.5 years of creation. The repeated sanding of the painting over 1.5 years suggests a journey of refinement, much like the process of personal growth or the struggle to express one’s authentic self. The idea of “outsiders” finding their place and mission to inspire others who dare to be themselves is powerful. It speaks to the theme of embracing individuality, overcoming obstacles, and the transformative potential of being true to oneself.
