My Name is Don DeLeva, I live and work in Seattle. The 5 images below are of mini oil paintings, four at 4″x4″ and one at 5″x5″. I would like to submit them for the 19th Mini Art show.
Imagine standing in a café — the quiet before your coffee arrives, the hum of life just beyond the frame. Across the room, a stranger’s eyes meet yours. Not a stare, but a flicker of recognition — and then the sudden jolt of realizing you are the one being seen.
These works are not portraits so much as moments — chance collisions rendered in color, shape, and texture. Each composition suspends time between distance and familiarity, curiosity and exposure. Muted tones and quiet light pulse with the uneasy charge of connection, that brief, electric shock of awareness.
In their stillness, these encounters linger — intimate, disarming, and undeniably human.
